We are looking to expand our team of passionate, caring and dedicated individuals who are called to the path of shipibo plant medicine. All of our positions are offered on a case-by-case basis, depending on our current needs and availability, and based on the skills that you have to offer. We are currently advertising for three positions: Volunteer Facilitator, Center Administrator, and Volunteer Communications Manager. There is flexibility across these roles and we welcome more speculative applications from people who may have skills in multiple areas or who have a willingness to learn and develop with us. Nihue Rao is a world-renowned ayahuasca retreat center located in Iquitos, Peru. Maestro Ricardo Amaringo established the center ten years ago and has over thirty years of experience with traditional shipibo plant medicine. Volunteer facilitator job description:
The facilitator's main responsibility is to guide our passengers through their healing journey at the center. Our goal is to provide transformational spiritual healing in a supportive and caring environment.
We are looking for passionate people who have the desire to help others. The work of a facilitator is dynamic and requires initiative and flexibility. The job requires excellent communication and teamwork.
Job benefits:
- The volunteer role requires a total commitment of 5 months – comprised of 4 months work and a 1-month master plant dieta that is provided in exchange for the work. (The normal cost of the dieta is 3900 USD)
- During the 4-months work period, the facilitator will have the opportunity to attend ceremony and drink ayahuasca, usually twice a week
- All food and accommodation is provided on-site
- Unfortunately we cannot cover travel expenses from your home country to Peru
Duties:
- Facilitate ayahuasca ceremonies (usually twice a week): bring passengers from their mat to the shamans to receive their personal icaros
- Meet passengers one-on-one to guide them through their healing process (training will be provided for the above)
- Attend and facilitate integration meetings with passengers (Integration meetings are held with Ricardo twice a week on the day after ceremony)
- Coordinate with cleaning staff to ensure rooms and grounds are well maintained
- Coordinate with medicine staff to prepare plant medicines for passengers
- Arrange passenger arrivals and departures
- Doggie care – bathing and flea treatment
- Other duties when required
Required skills and experience:
- Fluent english speaking
- Experience with ayahuasca or other healing modalities - please give details in your application
- Conversational spanish speaking is desired, but we will consider applicants that don't speak spanish.

Center Administrator job description:
The Center Administrator's key objective is to manage all bookings and communications with visitors and to help with the day-to-day running of the center. The Center Administrator will work alongside shaman Ricardo Amaringo, the Head Facilitator and 4 facilitators to provide transformational spiritual experiences for our guests.
Job benefits:
- Opportunity to attend ceremony and drink ayahuasca, usually twice a week
- All food and accommodation is provided on-site
- Payment is offered, currently at a reduced rate due to the pandemic and the impact it had on the center. As more visitors come, the payment will be increased. Currently we are offering the job on a volunteer plus expenses basis. Monthly expenses will be provided (500USD), alongside the opportunity to work in exchange for master plant dietas
Duties:
- Manage all email communication with guests - respond to questions and arrange bookings
- Organise future bookings and room allocation
- Manage group bookings
- Coordinate with cleaning staff to ensure rooms and grounds are well maintained
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to manage food orders
- Arrange passenger arrivals and departures
- Work as part of a team with the Head facilitator and facilitators
- Other duties as required
Necessary skills and experience:
- Fluent spanish and english speaking

Volunteer Communications Manager job description:
We are excited to advertise the role for Volunteer Communications Manager (VCM). The role of the VCM is to manage all email communications with guests and to manage the center's online presence. The key objective of the VCM is to attract more visitors to the center.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
- Socialmedia/online marketing
- Web content creation (web design experience is desirable)
- Customer-facing communication & correspondence
The job is initially advertised on a volunteer basis with performance-based payment negotiable in the future. (Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the reduction in visitor numbers at the center it caused we are not currently able to offer payment.)
The VCM will have the option to work from home, but will be expected to come to Nihue Rao for at least one month to get to know the center.
Job benefits:
- The VCM can choose to attend up to 4 ayahuasca ceremonies per week while on site (providing work commitments are met)
- The VCM will be offered a master plant dieta in exchange for their work. 4 months of work will be rewarded with 1 month of dieta (normal cost of 3900USD)
- Possibility of future performance-based payment up to 1000USD per month

- Improve Nihue Rao's presence on retreat review platforms such as ayaadvisors, retreatguru, ayamundo
- Help to create educational web content for the Nihue Rao website (eg. web pages with information about the master plants)
- Improve the center's SEO performance
